Refurbished nipple tattoo and counselling room.

In 2016, Treasure Chest funded the equipment and refurbishment of both the nipple tattoo room and the counselling room at the Royal Women’s and Royal Melbourne Hospitals Shared Breast Service, to offer patients an inviting, non-clinical looking space.

With forest wall art, lush chair coverings and wooden features, many patients comment that it feels more day spa than clinical hospital room.

A number of women going through breast cancer struggle with the emotions that are stirred with any hospital appointment, however once they come into these beautifully designed spaces their level of anxiety drops. Particularly when presenting for a nipple tattoo they feel like they have come to a salon rather than a hospital.

At this stage of their cancer journey, it is so rewarding to be able to provide them with a space that is comfortable and inviting.
