Additional Clinical Psychologist = reduced waiting time for patient support

Women who are about to undergo, or who have undergone breast surgery for cancer, are vulnerable to significant feelings of anxiety and loss; of their selfhood (identity), womanhood (sexuality), esteem and capacity to cope.

Treasure Chest Charity made it possible for the Centre for Women’s Mental Health at the Royal Women’s Hospital to employ an additional clinical psychologist, specialising in the care of women with breast cancer.

Now the waiting time for women with breast cancer to access counselling and mental health support at the Women’s has dropped from 7 weeks to 2 weeks.
